Hot off the Press: Tales of Tully !

The entire team at DNV rescue would like to extend our support and congratulations to our supporter and adopter Jess van der Hoech who in 2024 has released 16 books based on the tale of one of our rescues, Tully.

Jess works as a counselor specialising in the impact of early trauma providing therapy for children and young people.  Based on the true story of an adopted Bosnian Steet dog, these therapeutic workbooks support children who are struggling with a big change or transition, e.g. a new home, school or placement to help identify their big feelings and find a voice through Tully.

Most DNV members will remember the dramatic events and stressful days poor Jess suffered at the hands of runaway Tully (aka Eileen).  It is wonderful that these events not only had a happy ending thanks to the efforts of so many, but that they have gone on to inspire sixteen such powerful books. The first is the story of Tully's life so far, from being on the streets to her new home. The second "Tully Takes off" is a workbook for children living with trauma or change based on the events that took place when Tully escaped.

All profits for these first two books will be donated equally between DNV and Lost Dog Recovery UK South who brought Tully home again!

These have been swiftly followed up with books 3 to 16
(Tully and the Sad Day, Go to Sleep Tully, Tully and the Midnight Feast, Tully and the Scary Day, Dont Touch Tully !, Tully and the Tummy Ache, Tully's Birthday, Listen, Tully!, Tully and the Makeover, Tully and Vera, Tully and the Chase, Tully at Christmas, Tully Goes on Holiday and Tully and the New Rules).

One particular book (Tully and Vera) uses the real situation of Tully having to leave Vera to live with her adopter, in order to help children in a similar position handle their situation of leaving a foster to live with an adopter. All of the profits from this book will go to DNV.

Head over to Amazon where you can buy a copy for the children in your lives to not only help them with big feelings, but to support DNV and Lost Dog Recovery
